Manchester Roller Derby (MRD) is encouraging league members, as well as their family and friends to back its efforts to bring some Christmas cheer to homeless and vulnerable people in the city.
MRD wants the local roller derby community to help by dropping off donations at its training venue in Openshaw, which will then be passed on to Barnabus in Manchester.
Sirenide, the skater behind the charity drive, said: “I thought it would be nice to help, especially at this time of year. I’m not into how commercial Christmas has become and I really don’t like the cold. Whilst it’s difficult to avoid Christmas, I can definitely help with the cold bit!”
“Barnabus provides a much-needed service to Manchester and I’m keen to support the charity so they can continue their inspiring work across the city.”
Members of the roller derby club will be delivering donations to Barnabus on Monday 16 December.
