Started skating: September 2011
Position: Furies’ Bench Manager, Checkerbroad’s Line Up Manager and announcer
Favourite skate gear: My boombastic voice, amplifier sized lungs and derby knowledge.
Career highlight so far: Announcing the first Men’s World Cup as a whole, but a specific game, France vs Argentina, fantastic game and display of sportsmanship.
Height: 6’1 (on skates)
Notable injuries: Broken wrist when attempting laps and lost my voice a few times.
Hobbies/interests outside of roller derby: Singing, gaming, MMA, food, sleep, amusing pictures of cats.
One thing most people don’t know about me: I have a birthmark on my buttcheek that looks a bit like a stegosaurus
What’s the origin of your derby name? Sci-fi geek, Whedon fan, lover of Firefly – who better to be than Captain Mal Reynolds? Honourable but ruthless and an inspiring leader, good qualities for a Bench.
