New Wheeled Order, Team NSO
Started skating: October 2011
Position: Line up manager for New Wheeled Order. Blocker and reluctant jammer. NSO. Professional snack eater. Award winning loud mouth. (I printed up the award myself).
Favourite skate gear: helmet covers, gaffa tape, marker pens, clipboard, bag of snacks.
Derby hero/heroine: Skabarella (MRD’s head referee) with a voice so loud, you can tell she’s reffing from the car park. In a different city. And my organisational role model.
Career highlight so far: First ever game I lined up for NWO against Tyne and Fear (May 2013) was also Lt Damn’s first game for NWO. I made him jam when he wasn’t supposed to, and the rest is history. Travelling to New York with NWO and not losing any of them. Mohawk Valley Cup 2013 was an amazing experience.
Height: 5ft 1 (off skates and on a good day. Sometimes 5ft)
Hobbies/interests outside of roller derby: Food and avoiding my marking.
What’s the origin of your derby name? Roller Du-sco. I moved to Levenshulme and went to see my local roller disco for the first time at the Arcadia. I thought it was the worst roller disco I’ve ever seen – no music, no lights, the awful smell of sweat, people bashing each other, and REALLY PARANOID with the protective gear…I had walked into MRD training by accident. The roller disco was the day before.
Have you had any serious injuries? Putting up with NWO. That’s serious enough.
