Position: Penalty tracking or jam timing
Essential equipment: Countdown stopwatches, Fox 40 Classic whistle, and pencils!
Derby hero: SkaBarella, MRD’s head referee as she’s my derby mum, having trusted in me to take on head NSO of the league when I was still very new to officiating. She’s also great at her role, and very supportive, whilst also being fun!
Career highlight so far: It’s a toss up between being asked to Tournament HNSO the British Roller Derby Championships Men’s and finding out that I’d been offered a place to NSO at the Men’s Roller Derby World Cup 2016
Origin of derby name: I’m a chemist, and have a long term mental health condition so something sciencey always made sense, and serotonin is one of the brain chemicals associated with happiness.
Notable injuries: I broke and dislocated my ankle very badly during my first Heroes session. No one throught I’d come back but I vowed to NSO until I could skate again. Instead, I fell in love with officiating so don’t think I’ll ever stop!
