Started skating: November 2008
Position: Jam ref
Previous Leagues: Rainy City
Favourite skate gear: Antik skate boots, Crazy Venus plates, hockey wheels which are much better suited to my style of skating. Ennui wristguards, 187 elbow pads, Smith Scabs Kneepads with old school Anarchy gaskets
Derby hero: Stef Mainey as I met her when I first started skating and had a stint at being her “right-hand woman” benching rainy city when she used to line-up their team. She is super smart where derby is concerned and I learnt lots from her when I first started derby. As a ref now I would have to say the lovely Skabarella has been an inspiration to me. I was there at her first ever session and had a part in teaching her to skate! She has progressed up the ranks of derby and is now one of the most respected refs in the UK. If I can be half as good as her I will be happy.
Career highlight so far: Getting best blocker against the mighty Crime City Rollers. Playing a mixed scrim at a bootcamp with and against NYSE was a pretty sweet day too! Founding MRD and seeing the success that the league has seen and continues to achieve is always proud times for me.
Height: 5′ 7ʺ off skates
Origin of derby name: It was chosen for me and suited me so it had to be mine!
Notable injuries: I broke my wrist in June 2014, 3 days before I was due to captain my first game with the B-team.
I have had bruises galore and had to pull out of a bout once due to a massive fall at a skatepark where I damaged my leg quite badly.
Hobbies and interests outside derby: Not much time for anything else! I like walking, drinking the odd cider now and again and I am about to start a career as a nurse which takes up a lot of my dedication now.
One thing most people don’t know about me: I can do silly impressions including Chewbacca….apart from that there isn’t much more to know about me
