Started skating: February 2012
Position: Blocker, Pivot
Favourite skate gear: My favourite piece of kit is my mouth guard. It has saved my teeth on numerous occasions! Getting the right mouh guard is important as you still need to be able to communicate on track. The SISU mouth guard has been my favourite mouth guard type to date. It’s breathable, easy to clean and easy to re-mold. It’s light and breathable formation is perfect for being able to communicate on track for where that jammer is!
Derby hero: Rosie Peacock. I’ve watched Rosie at a few games now and I’ve seen her track and demoralise jammers due to her amazing skills and abilities on skates. She is a fantastic team player and happy to take the star and be a very effective jammer. I aspire to be more like Rosie every day!
Career highlight so far: We played Team Crazy legs in 2015 and due to one of our regular jammers not being available, I was put in as a back up jammer in the second rotation. I’d really worked hard at pushing myself skill wise and derby wise. One of my main aims at the time was to get on a jammer rotation, even if secondary. I was so happy to achieve that but on the day, I really demonstrated the footwork I’d worked on, the endurance and my positive attitude. It was great to be recognised and given the opportunity to do this with the team at the time.
Height: 5’3” on feet, 5’6” on skates
What’s the origin of your derby name? The Incredible Hulk! Other members of our league like to say the catch phrase “Ish Smash” which I adore. My nickname since High School has been Ish, so I wanted this to be part of my name. I’m like a bull in a china shop so it fitted well.
